A few tips for getting the best out of Alsace :
Explore the wealth of cultural activities in Strasbourg, walk down the picturesque streets of Obernai, go up to the castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg, turn up and taste wine at the producer’s, hike in the Vosges. And at the end of the day, come back to Château de l’Ile and relax in the peace of verdant surroundings, enjoy a wonderful dinner and wake up refreshed next morning. Take the time also to enjoy our → wellness centre.
Take a bike
Alsace has hundreds of kilometres of cycle tracks and greenways, often running along canals or converted railway tracks. There’s a track running past Château de l’Ile, which will get you to Strasbourg in just half-an-hour.
Strasbourg and its waterways
Take the boat and explore Strasbourg along the river Ill, with a cruise going from the city centre, through Neustadt and the Petite France, right up to the European Parliament. You can opt for an open or air-conditioned boat or even hire your own electric boat, which needs no special licence.
Europa Park, for kids and adults alike
Voted the best leisure park in the world for the fifth time running, Europa Park is only 50 km from Château de l’Ile and it’s well worth the trip. With over 100 attractions, shows and events, 13 rollercoasters and 15 European-themed areas, it’s a must for the bucket list.
Haut Koenigsbourg is the only fully-restored mediaeval castle in Alsace, with its own ramparts, artillery towers and weapons room. There are guided tours all year long, workshops, exhibitions and special events. The trip up to the castle is worth it if only for the view over the plane of Alsace and the Black Forest in Germany.
